1X1 Art Gallery, founded by Malini Gulrajani in 1996, has been an integral part of the UAE's cultural landscape, exhibiting modern and contemporary art from the Global South at its Alserkal Avenue location in Dubai. As a space dedicated to intellectual engagement, and through extensive collaborations with local and international artists, galleries, art fairs, museums, curators, and organizations, the gallery has consistently fostered cultural exchange and championed diverse artistic expressions.

Working within a spacious 7,500 sq ft facility, 1X1 provides a platform for nurturing local talent through project-based experimentation. Its program has expanded to include Emirati, South Asian, MENA-based, and international artists in its roster. 1X1 Art Gallery champions collaborative projects and initiatives with a focus on cultural production.

A dedicated library and bookstore focusing on South Asian art and literature facilitates community engagement, enhancing dialogue and understanding within the artistic sphere. The gallery is also branching into design, craft, and project-based experimentation, blurring conventional boundaries between various disciplines while remaining committed to pushing artistic boundaries and enriching cultural discourse in Dubai and beyond.
